Private athletic coach in Md. charged with sex offenses

BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police have arrested a man who worked as a private athletic coach and charged him with sex offenses stemming from an incident with a teenage girl.

Thirty-year-old Daniel Mandel Sirotkin works as a privately hired tutor and coach in the Bethesda and Potomac areas.

Police say Montgomery County Public Schools officials notified them in November that he may have been engaging in inappropriate contact with students. The students were from several private and public schools in the areas.

Sirotkin is charged with two counts of sex abuse of a minor and three counts of third degree sex offense.

Sirotkin has been tutoring and coaching high school students for several years. Any parent or child who feels that Sirotkin engaged in inappropriate behavior is asked to call the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400

Norton Manor: Frank Islam and Debbie Driesman's Pride of Potomac

POTOMAC, MD (WUSA9)--Frank Islam and his wife, Debbie Driesman, spent their first Thanksgiving in their new home, Norton Manor.  It's been 6 years in the making and as WUSA9's Andrea Roane explains, it is no ordinary house at 47,000 square feet.

In addition to the main house there is a 9,000 square foot guest house and a tea house.  There are 14 bedrooms, 22 bathrooms, a movie theater, a gym, 60 chandeliers.  Never mind the number of kitchens.  The sprawling compound sits on 9 acres.  Some of the gardens are inspired by the Hampton Court Palace in England.  Another is inspired by the Rose Garden at the White House.

Garage fire in North Potomac

NORTH POTOMAC, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Sky 9 chopper flew over the scene of a fire in the 12300 block of Triple Crown Road in North Potomac on Wednesday morning.

Images from chopper video show firefighters gathered around what appears to be a garage attached to a home. You can see the side of the structure appears to be charred and a door of the garage completely missing as firefighters put out hot spots.

We're told the fire is now out. No one was injured in the fire.

Investigators are working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

We hope to have more details on this fire later Wednesday.
