While players get ready for the first round of the U.S. Open, parking continues to be an issue.
According to the United States Golf Association, spectators attending the U.S. Open Championship at Congressional Country Club this week are reminded that there is no general spectator parking at or around the club.
Fifteen homeowners in Potomac, Maryland learned of the limited parking issue and decided to get permits for visitors to park on their lawns one week out of the year including David Stupar, whose two-acre lot has been in his family since 1960.
“We are the original owners. Horses used to graze our lot, but in 1997 we parked cars here for the U.S. Open and saw what a lucrative arrangement it was. We heard it was coming back this year, and knew we had a great business opportunity on our hands,” said Harrington Drive Resident, David Stupar.
