Gaithersburg Marriott Delivers Turkey Dinner to Firefighters

Being away from family on Thanksgiving will be a little easier this year for firefighters at Station #31 in North Potomac, Maryland, thanks to associates of the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center (Gaithersburg Marriott). Hotel representatives will be dishing out traditional holiday fare especially for these heroes on Tuesday, November 23, at noon at the station located at 12100 Darnestown Road, North Potomac, MD 20878.

“We rely on the firefighters at station #31 to keep our guests and associates safe,” says Michele Pajot, general manager at the Gaithersburg Marriott. “Bringing them this special meal and presenting it with holiday flare is one way that we can thank them for the selfless work that they do every day.”

The executive chef and other hotel associates have been working hard to plan and create a special meal for the firefighters, in the midst of the hotel’s own busy holiday season. Firefighters will feast on honey poached turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato pies and other holiday favorites.

“This meal is really a take-off on what we will be serving our hotel guests for Thanksgiving,” explains Andrew Gould, executive chef at the Gaithersburg Marriott.  “The hotel is long known for its upscale holiday brunches, and this year’s will not only include the traditional favorites the firefighters will enjoy but also an expansive dessert buffet, beef choices, such as prime rib and strip loin, along with mimosas.”

“Being away from home on the holidays can be tough but we all know it’s expected when we take this job,” says Lieutenant Bill Phelps of Station 31.  “We work 108 shifts a year so over time, you work every holiday there is.  This effort by the Gaithersburg Marriott really lets us know that someone appreciates that we have to be at work that day.”
