Montgomery County Housing Fair
Real Estate

Montgomery County's annual Housing Fair and Financial Fitness Day will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, October 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bohrer Park Activity Center, Summit Hall Farm, 506 S. Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877.  To celebrate the tenth anniversary, the fair will expand its educational outreach to the community and provide new networking opportunities and publicity benefits for Sponsors and Exhibitors: housing providers, businesses, banks, credit unions, realtors, government agencies, community organizations, and nonprofits.

If you are interested in becoming a Sponsor or Exhibitor, contact Myriam Torrico at 240-777-3627 or e-mail Myriam.Torrico@MontgomeryCountyMD.gov.  Register before August 16 and receive the Early Bird discount.  Last year the popular fair attracted more than 90 Sponsors and Exhibitors and over 1,000 participants.  Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to publicize your organization and help county residents meet their housing needs.

Newcomers to Montgomery County as well as longtime residents are encouraged to attend.  There will be useful information about renting, buying, and refinancing; foreclosure and bankruptcy; managing money and credit; renters’ right; how to avoid housing scams; and other housing issues.  Certified housing counselors will meet one on one with homeowners who are behind in their mortgage payments or whose homes are already in foreclosure.  Renters in danger of eviction because of building owners’ defaults will also receive sound practical advice.  All of the counseling at the fair is free.  Credit counselors will provide copies and analysis of credit reports.  Spanish/English translation services will be available.

The fair is fun for all ages as educational.  There is a raffle every hour.  Ten fairgoers will win $400 toward rent or mortgage or utility costs.  Discounted food and lively free entertainment for adults and children will be provided.
