Potomac Residential Burglar Arrested
Crime

Detectives from the 1st District Special Assignment Team and 1st District Investigative Section have been investigating a series of residential burglaries in Potomac.  Fairfax County has also experienced a series of residential burglaries and detectives from their agency recently contacted 1st District investigators identifying the suspect as Brad Edmonds.

On November 16 at approximately 12:15 a.m., Fairfax County Police detectives and 1st District investigators were conducting a joint surveillance on Edmonds in the area of Evening Ride Drive in Potomac.  After several hours, this surveillance was concluded when Edmonds departed from the area.

Later that same day, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Edmonds returned to Potomac and the joint Montgomery County and Fairfax County surveillance continued in the area of the 11700 block of Lake Potomac Drive in Potomac.

During the course of this surveillance, investigators observed Edmonds break into two vehicles parked in a driveway in the 11700 block of Lake Potomac Drive.  Soon after those thefts, investigators recovered evidence of Edmonds committing one residential burglary in the 11700 block of Lake Potomac Drive and attempting a second residential burglary in the 11500 block of Lake Potomac Drive.  Edmonds stole cash and personal items from the occupied residence and the vehicles.  Investigators then followed Edmonds from the neighborhood and, at approximately 4:30 a.m. on November 17, stopped him at the intersection of River Road and Falls Road and placed him under arrest.

Later that day, a search warrant was executed at Edmonds’ residence.  Investigators recovered items of evidentiary value related to this series of burglaries and thefts. Investigators also recovered a rifle that had been stolen some time between November 15 and 16 from a vehicle parked in the 13300 block of Drew’s Lane in Potomac.

On November 18, investigators executed a search warrant on Edmonds’ blue 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue and recovered items of evidentiary value from the vehicle.  Additional charges may be forthcoming.
