D.C. filmmaker Jason Baustin differs from his area counterparts in one important regard: He's not from around here. Jason moved to the D.C. area from Atlanta, Georgia to study Film and Digital Media at American University after some friends had told him about the program. After graduating, he decided to stay in the D.C. area to make films rather than opting for the oft chosen destinations of New York and Los Angeles.

Ride On's Annual Food Drive Begins Sunday

From Montgomery County:

Ride On bus passengers in Montgomery County can help needy families and receive free bus rides by donating canned or nonperishable food during Ride On’s annual food drive.  A free trip will be provided to riders who donate food from Sunday, April 10 through Saturday, April 16.  Food collected through the drive goes to Manna Food Center, which feeds 3,000 hungry families a month.

“Especially in these times of economic hardship, more people are in need of food than ever before and the food collected through Ride On’s ‘Give and Ride’ program is of tremendous benefit,” said Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett.  “Give and Ride is a wonderful opportunity for bus riders to conveniently help other Montgomery County residents who are going hungry and for the County to recognize the donors’ generosity.  It’s also a great way to show our community spirit by giving and sharing.”
