POTOMAC, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police have identified the man who died after hiking on a trail near the Potomac River on Sunday.

Police say 25-year-old Rian Avarham Khalder of Silver Spring fell during a rock climb Sunday afternoon.

According to police, Khalder was hiking with his 14-year-old brother on Offut Island near the Angler Inn boat camp. Police say Khalder was climbing when a portion of rocks gave away and he fell. Rocks, including one large boulder, fell on him, according to police.

Khalder suffered serious injuries and died. Police say that no foul play is suspected and The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will perform an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

Rescue workers were initially told the hiker was badly injured. They needed to gather special rescue equipment and the threat of impending severe weather made reaching Khalder even more difficult.
