Favorite Fridays: What's Your Favorite Summer Drink?

The 9 to 5 grind stressing you out? What better way to start the weekend then planning where you will spend your Friday and Saturday nights?

If you are looking to mix up the usual night out and the typical drink: Vodka soda, splash of Cranberry or Pineapple? Look no further.

Put a spin on the traditional with a few of my favorite summer cocktails.

Uncle Julio’s Swirl Margarita in Bethesda, Md:

The Swirl layers margarita with Uncle Julio's secret sangria is a shockingly good frozen marriage alternated in decadent layers. Can’t go wrong with this double duo, accompanied by chips and salsa!

Carmine's Watermelon Cricket in DC:

When I think of watermelon, I think summer (smile). Chefs and mixologists are finding new ways to use the watermelon, which has taken a starring role in everything from cocktails to salads. The ingredients: Rosehip- and cucumber-infused gin mixed with muddled fresh watermelon, lemon and limejuice; a splash of simple syrup; and Peychaud's bitters from New Orleans.

Circa’s Blackberry Margarita in Arlington, VA:

Last night, I tried Circa for the first time. I must say the Blackberry Margarita with Milagro Silver, Patron Citronge, fresh lime, muddled blackberries and a splash of Chambord is delicious and very strong- a must try!

Circa also has a delicious Pineapple mojito, a mango martini and an orange crush which will remind most of you of the Starboard at Dewey Beach.

Relic Restaurant & Lounge's Poma Margarita in Bethesda, Md:

Pomegranates are known for their endless health benefits. This super fruit is both sweet and tangy which is delicious with tequila. Relic’s Poma Margherita blends Cuevo Gold, Pama Liqueur, Patron Citronage, and Pomegranate Juice for a lip-smacking treat.

Barcode’s Orchard Storm in DC:

Originally a cocktail from Bermuda, the Dark ‘n’ Stormy has made quite the comeback in DC. Barcode has one of my favorite versions, “Orchard Storm,” made with their house ginger beer Goslings rum, Velvet Falernum, peach lambic, and fresh lime.
