Little Things Make a Big Difference

Leadership is an act that takes place in three areas of our lives: in our work environment, our personal environment, and in our community.

Recently, while facilitating a leadership training, I shared the DVD titled, 212°, because I found its message both inspiring and motivating. After the presentation and then again at our lunch break, many of the participants continued to discuss, interpret and then envision how the information would be helpful. I continue to marvel at how little things, do indeed, make a big difference. 212° tells us there is very little that separates the good from the great. The difference is, many times, only a single degree!  This simplistic truth has vast application for all of us.

It’s indescribable, really . . . the way that I love you. I want more for you than I could ever imagine wanting for myself.

The McLaughlin Group and Reuters News Correspondents’ Brunch Completes a Weekend of Celebration

The McLaughlin Group and Reuters News Correspondents’ Brunch Completes a Weekend of Celebration

The tradition goes on for The McLaughlin Group Correspondents’ Brunch the morning after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. On Sunday, May 1, John McLaughlin, creator, executive producer and host of The McLaughlin Group, along with Stephen Adler, editor in chief of Reuters News, hosted the brunch that for McLaughlin has been a ritual for 20-plus years.

Typically held at the Hay Adams Rooftop, with a recent exception in 2009, the event was again at the famed hotel, but in newly renovated rooftop spaces. Once tented and open to the elements, the L-shaped reception hall is now lavishly adorned with classic finishes and glass doors at every turn opening to the balcony offering bird’s-eye views of the White House and Washington Monument. Sources say the first event in the newly renovated spaces was in January of this year.

MCS Recognizes Professionals who Promote Healthy Meals

From Montgomery County Schools:

Troy, NC:   Preparing healthy school meals, teaching healthy nutrition habits, and offering a friendly greeting are all in a day’s work for the 50 school nutrition employees in Montgomery County Schools.  The non-profit School Nutrition Association celebrates this professional commitment with School Nutrition Employee Week, May 2-6, 2011. The week is an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy school meals to more than 32 million children each school day.

Helping Women in Transition Make Sound Financial Decisions

Helping Women in Transition Make Sound Financial Decisions

A Woman in Transition is a woman who finds herself bracing for a new phase in life.  “Transition” is not just a change in routines, relationships or social status – it is a fundamental shift in a woman’s identity.  It could be brought on with purposeful intent, such as voluntarily retiring from a successful career, or entering a second marriage.  It could be brought on by an unexpected surprise, such as losing a spouse to a heart attack, or becoming single after a painful divorce.  For a Woman in Transition, the uncertainty of the future can result in anxiety and fear and/or excitement and anticipation.
