On Friday, Dec. 16 at 7 a.m., a crowd of 600-plus elected officials, government and business representatives, and community leaders from throughout Montgomery County and the State of Maryland will be on hand for the Committee for Montgomery’s annual legislative breakfast at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. A virtual “who’s who” of Montgomery County and Maryland elected officials, and community leaders, the breakfast traditionally kicks off local preparations for the upcoming Maryland General Assembly session. Featured speakers at this year’s event will include Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr., U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, U.S. Representative Chris Van Hollen, Montgomery County Senate Chair Jamie Raskin, Montgomery House of Delegates Chair Brian Feldman, County Executive Isiah Leggett, and new County Council President Roger Berliner.

The Committee for Montgomery is a coalition of leaders representing a broad cross-section of Montgomery County business, labor, education, civic and community-based organizations. Its mission is to advocate in Annapolis on issues of importance to Montgomery County and the State of Maryland. Committee for Montgomery Chair Linna Barnes, of the Town of Chevy Chase, will outline the committee’s legislative priorities for the 2012 Maryland General Assembly.
