Three Modernized Schools to Open For Students


The following information was sent to us by Montgomery County Public Schools: 


On Wednesday, January 4, students will move back into three Montgomery County Public Schools at which modernization projects have just been completed. The three schools are Cannon Road Elementary School, Garrett Park Elementary School and Seven Locks Elementary School. Dignitaries from MCPS and Montgomery County government will gather at Garrett Park Elementary School Wednesday morning to celebrate the completion of these three projects.


WHAT: Press conference on the opening of three modernized elementary schools, followed by a brief tour of the modernized school.


WHERE: Garrett Park Elementary School, 4810 Oxford St., Garrett Park 20896


WHEN: Wednesday, January 4, 2011, 9:30 a.m. (The media is welcome to arrive at 8:45 a.m. as students and parents enter the school for the first time. School begins around 9 a.m.)


WHO: Scheduled to attend and speak at the press conference:

-          Superintendent of Schools Joshua P. Starr

-          Board of Education Vice President Christopher Barclay

-          County Council President Roger Berliner

-          County Executive Isiah Leggett.

-          Elaine Chang-Baxter, principal, Garrett Park Elementary School


Other local and county dignitaries are expected to attend, as are members of the Garrett Park community.
